Traverse City Trip: Day 2
By admin | June 6, 2009

Bayshore Resort
Waking up in our hotel room at the Bayshore Resort with a tranquil view of a clean sandy beach and clear blue water, I forget for a moment that I am in Michigan and not a Caribbean Island. After an awakening cup of coffee at the Harbor Coffee and Bakery on Front Street, we walk over to the Farmers Market that sits between the river and the lake. There we intermingle with locals and tourist looking for fresh vegetables, local honey, large variety plants, flowers and many more local selections such as fresh baked breads, desert, spreads, soaps, etc.
We didn’t have to fly to Napa or Sonoma California to experience the fun of wine tasting and the beauty of vineyards. Chateau Chantal in Old Mission Peninsula is approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown Traverse City through rolling hills and cherry orchards. The staff there was friendly, the free wine tasting was fun and educational and the bottle prices were fantastic. Check them out at http://www.chateauchantal.com/
